<br />SECTION 4 - APPOINTMENTS <br /> <br />SECTION 4.01- Type of appointments <br /> <br />Appointments are designated either regular or temporary. Regular appointments will ordinarily be <br />ofindefinite duration and may be made full-time or part-time positions. A full time employee is one <br />who works an average of forty (40) hours or more per week on a regular and continuing basis. A <br />part time employee is one who generally works an average of not less than twenty (20) hours per <br />week on a regular and continuing basis. Such employees are considered to be actively employed as <br />long as they are drawing compensation for hours worked or paid leave, or are on administrative <br />leave without payor on unpaid leave taken under the Family Medical Leave Act. Limited term <br />regular appointments may be made in unusual circumstances. All regular appointments are subject <br />to the policies governing probation. All City positions are employment-at-will. <br /> <br />The City has exempt and non exempt employees. Exempt employees are those as defined by the <br />City Manager. <br /> <br />Temporary appointments to regular positions will ordinarily be limited to ninety (90) day terms. <br />Temporary appointments may also be made for positions requiring seasonal or intermittent <br />performance. Such appointments will be a specified duration of time and may be for a variable <br />number of work hours. Jobs that are filled by a temporary appointment do not have to be posted. <br /> <br />SECTION 4.02 - Relatives <br /> <br />Generally, two members of an immediate family will not be appointed to regular full-time positions <br />in the same division. No employee hired may directly or indirectly supervise or be supervised by <br />a member of his /her immediate family. For the purpose of this policy, immediate family includes <br />an employee's spouse, child, parent, brother, sister, father or mother-in-law, sister or brother-in-law <br />or any relative living in the employee's home. <br /> <br />SECTION 4.03 - Residence <br /> <br />There will be no absolute residence requirements for City employment except as provided by law. <br />Employees likely to be called to work in cases of emergency are required to respond within thirty <br />(30) minutes of the Culbertson Plaza, downtown Paris. Employees allowed to operate City vehicles <br />between their places of residence and work are required to reside within the city or within reasonable <br />commuting distance as established by the City manager. <br /> <br />14 <br /> <br />Revised 01-25-05 <br />
