<br />SECTION 15 - EMPLOYEE CONDUCT <br /> <br />SECTION 15.01 - General <br /> <br />Employees are expected to use common sense and reasonable judgment in guiding their behavior on the <br />job. Courtesy, tact and consideration must guide each employee in his/her relationship with fellow <br />employees and the public. <br /> <br />SECTION 15.02 - Attendance <br /> <br />Employees must be at their places of work in accordance with City and department policies and <br />regulations. Department heads will establish work schedules and maintain daily employee attendance <br />records. <br /> <br />SECTION 15.03 - Work Standards <br /> <br />The City requires that each employee conduct himself/herself in a manner that facilitates the effective <br />accomplishment of the work of the City. Employees are expected to follow any reasonable request made <br />by his/her supervisor. The employee is expected to observe at all times the requirements of courtesy, <br />consideration, and promptness in dealing with the public and with persons or organizations having <br />business with the City and with fellow employees. Employees may not engage in outside activity while <br />on duty. <br /> <br />Any employee who is arrested for any criminal offense must report such arrest to their department head <br />within 72 hours of arrest or next report to work, whichever is earlier. An employee who fails to report <br />an arrest could result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal. <br /> <br />If work habits, attitude, production and/or personal conduct of any employee fall below appropriate <br />standards, supervisors should point out the deficiencies at the time they are observed. Counseling and <br />warning the employee in sufficient time for improvement will ordinarily precede formal disciplinary <br />action, but nothing herein prevents immediate formal action as provided elsewhere in these policies <br />whenever the interest of the City requires such action. <br /> <br />SECTION 15.04 - Political Activities <br /> <br />City employees are neither appointed nor retained on the basis oftheir political activity. Employees are <br />encouraged to vote and are free to express their personal opinions about candidates for office. Except <br />as may be otherwise provided by law, the following restrictions on political activity will apply to City <br />employees: <br /> <br />A.
