The public hearing was declared open. Alan Whitley, property owner, stated he wants to put in a crematorium on the property. He states there will be no extra construction because the oven will go into the existing building. This will not be open to the public, and he will contract with area funeral homes. Mr. Hayter asked how big the property is? Mr. Whitley stated it is a little more than 2 acres; however, the paperwork submitted to the commissioners reflected the total survey of 45 acres. Mr. Whitley stated he only wanted to change the zoning on the 2 acres. There was no opposition, and the public hearing was declared closed. 6. Commissioners felt the application needs to reflect the 2 acres Mr. Whitley wants to change the zoning on. Mr. Plata stated asked what difference it makes because all of the property in the area is going commercial. Mr. Hunt asked if Mr. Whitley can get this fixed if the item is tabled. Motion made by Richard Hunt to table, seconded by Fran Neely. Motion carried by a vote of 6 ayes and 0 nays. 7. Public Hearing to consider the petition of John Bell for a change in zoning from a Two Family Dwelling District (2F) to a Parking District (P) on Lot 1, City Block 143, being numbers 525 and 527 8th Street S.E. The public hearing was declared open. John Bell, 2300 Clarksville, stated that the location of the property is directly across the street from Heritage Care, which is expanding its facility and needs additional parking.
