TEXAS <br />MONDAY. MARCH 26. 2007 <br />4:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br /> <br />1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by <br />Chairman Arvin Starrett. <br /> <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Paul Denney, Vice-Chairman <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />Sharron Nabors <br />Ann Rogers <br />Nancy Partridge <br />Alternate: Brian Wear <br /> <br />The following members were absent: <br />Pike Burkhart <br />Alternate: Vanessa Preston <br /> <br />B. Also present was Lisa A. Wright, Historic Preservation Officer. <br /> <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. Motion made by Susan Scholz, <br />seconded by Nancy Partridge, to approve the minutes with corrections for <br />March 14, 2007. Motion carried 7-0. <br /> <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness: <br /> <br />A. 210 1st Street S.E. · Jeff and Katie Neilson - Kate Neilson stated that she <br />wants to build the fence out of Trex, which only comes in a saddle color <br />but will not crack and does not have to be painted. They would like to <br />put brick columns every 8 feet (1' X l' in diameter), and they will be the <br />color of the building. The property height is uneven, so the walls will <br />vary in height so that it will be even all the way around. <br /> <br />They propose to screen the air conditioning units with expanded metal, <br />which is not an approved material. Mrs. Neilson agreed that they would <br />install ventilated brick instead. Paul Denney stated brick may be best <br />option since its two units and would accent the front of the house.
