The regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday, May <br />5,2007, was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Chairman Reeves Hayter. <br /> <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Reeves Hayter, Chairman <br />Barbara Forrest <br />Richard Hunt <br />Fran Neeley <br />Darin Manning <br />Benny Plata <br /> <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Marshall Kent, Vice-Chairman <br />Bobby Myers <br />Brad Archer <br /> <br />C. Also present were Lisa Wright, Community Development Director, <br />Shawn Napier, City Engineer, and Kent Mcllyar, City Attorney. <br /> <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. Motion to approve the minutes <br />ofthe March 5, 2007,meeting was made by Reeves Hayter, seconded by Benny <br />Plata. Motion carried 6-0. <br /> <br />3. Public Hearing to consider the petition of Jane Williams for a change in <br />zoning from a Light Industrial District (LI) to a Heavy Industrial District (HI) <br />with a Specific Use Permit (41) Wrecking or Salvage Yard on Lots 23 and 24, <br />Block 251, being numbers 2211 and 2255 N. Main Street. <br /> <br />The public hearing was declared open. The following individuals spoke in <br />favor of the petition. <br /> <br />Wayne Brown, 3055 33rd Street N~E., spoke in favor of the petition. Mr. <br />Brown stated, since 1953, Williams operated the salvage yard on this <br />property. Ms. Williams turned off utilities back last year and to their surprise, <br />the classification changed. The Williams have a buyer who wants to operate <br />
