Box 9037 <br />Paris, TX 75461 <br /> <br />Subject: FEMA Flood Map Update - Scoping and Data Collection for Lamar County <br /> <br />Dear Shawn Napier: <br /> <br />As part of their Map Modernization initiative, FEMA has selected Lamar County for a Digital Flood <br />Insurance Study (FIS) update. The Scoping Meeting for Lamar County will be held at the Paris Public <br />Library located at 326 S. Main Street in Paris, Texas on Friday, May 11, 2007 from 9:30 a.m. to <br />12:00 p.m. <br /> <br />A representative of the Federal Emergency Management Agency Region 6 office (FEMA) will conduct the <br />Scoping Meeting along with members of the Regional Management Center (RMC), the selected IDIO <br />study contractor for this effort. The purpose of the Scoping Meeting is to: <br /> <br />· Inform the communities of the nature and the intent of the Flood Insurance Restudy process, <br /> <br />· Solicit community input and discuss the flood-prone areas within the communities that need <br />to be included as a part of this restudy, <br /> <br />· Discuss any potential obstacles that might impact the study effort and determine potential <br />solutions, <br /> <br />· Establish points of contact between FEMA, the communities, Halff Associates (IDIO) and <br />other stakeholders, <br /> <br />· Discuss the availability of any flood hazard information which includes historical data <br />regarding past flooding that could be used or incorporated into this restudy effort. This could <br />include studies performed by the community, State, or Federal agencies or local developers, <br /> <br />· Discuss any proposed developments in the floodplain and plans to alleviate potefltial <br />flooding, <br /> <br />· Discuss the availability of any digital topographic mapping data and obtaining specific <br />information regarding the limits of coverage, the format and the data sources, <br /> <br />· Discuss the availability of any field-surveyed cross-sections along any of the flooding <br />sources, <br /> <br />· Establish communication protocols and management objectives for the entire project. <br /> <br />DALLAS .
