<br />DRAFT <br /> <br />f:attomeylreswrok\currentIFEMA - Flood Ins Maps Update Res 2007 <br />June 5, 2007 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />TEXAS, AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE EXECUTION OF A <br />COMMUNITY PARTNER MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH <br />FEMA (FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY) IN ORDER <br />TO UPDATE OUR CURRENT FLOOD INSURANCE RATE MAPS; <br />MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE <br />SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has been made aware of the need to update the Current <br />Flood Insurance Rate Maps for the City of Paris; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has started a Map <br />Modernization Initiative and has selected Lamar County for a digital flood insurance study <br />update; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the process will take approximately 18 months and the City of Paris will <br />be supplying FEMA with any information that we currently have to assist them; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order to participate in updating the Current Flood Insurance Rate Maps <br />it is necessary for the City of Paris to enter into a Community Partner Memorandum of <br />Agreement with FEMA at no cost to the City of Paris; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the form of agreement for such map modernization initiative attached <br />hereto and Exhibit A should in all things be approved, and the Interim City Manager should be <br />authorized to execute the same; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble of this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Paris does hereby approve the Map <br />Modernization Initiative by FEMA for a Digital Flood Insurance Study (PIS) update in Lamar <br />County in accordance with the Community Partner Memorandum of Agreement hereto as <br />Exhibit A. <br /> <br />Section 3. That the Interim City Manager of the City of Paris be, and he is hereby <br />authorized and directed to execute on behalf ofthe City of Paris the agreement with FEMA in <br />the form shown in Exhibit A attached hereto. <br />
