RESOLUTION N0. 2007-137 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />TEXAS, DECLARING SUPPORT FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE <br />SULPHUR RIVER REGIONAL MOBILITY AUTHORITY AND THE <br />APPOINTMENT BY LAMAR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' COURT OF <br />CURTIS FENDLEY AND TANIS HAGER TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />OF THE SULPHUR RIVER REGIONAL MOBILITY AUTHORITY; <br />DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION <br />WAS PASSED COMPLIED WITH THE TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS ACT; <br />MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE <br />SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris recognizes the importance of regional partnerships to meet <br />common transportation goals; and, <br />WHEREAS, the State of Texas has established that Regional Mobility Authorities will be <br />important to the future development of new transportation corridors; and, <br />WHEREAS, the State of Texas has established new Regional Mobility Authority (RMA) <br />powers through the passage of HB 3588; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris supports the creation of the Sulphur River Regional Mobility <br />Authority (SURRMA) covering Lamar, Delta, Hopkins, and Hunt Counties; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris also supports and recommends the appointment of Curtis <br />Fendley and Tanis Hager to the Sulphur River Regional Mobility Authority Board of Directors by <br />the Lamar County Commissioners' Court; and, <br />WHEREAS, SURRMA would be charged with the planning, financing, constructing, <br />maintaining and operating the widening of State Highway 19/24" from atwo-lane divided highway <br />to a four-lane divided highway corridor joining communities and other major transportation <br />corridors; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br />Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Paris supports the creation of the SURRMA <br />(Sulphur River Regional Mobility Authority) to encompass Lamar, Delta, Hopkins, and Hunt <br />Counties. <br />
