MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD <br />COX FIELD AIRPORT TERMINAL <br />MEETING ROOM <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2007 <br />5:30 0'CLOCK PM <br />1. The Airport Advisory Board meeting was called to order by Chairman Vic <br />Ressler at 5:30 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Vic Ressler <br />Pete Kampfer <br />Jack Ashmore <br />Bill Boothe <br />Glen Chapman <br />Harry Michalewicz <br />~ Billy Copeland <br />Andrew Fasken <br />The following members were absent: <br />None <br />B. Also present was Lisa Wright, Airport Director; and Jerry Richey, <br />Airport Manager. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. Minutes of the October 2, 2007, <br />meeting were approved as presented. <br />3. Confinued discussion on obtaining an entrance sign for the Airport. <br />Pete Kampfer stated the sign will not cost as much as you think. We should <br />place a large sign on Highway 271 and the smaller sign on the property. Vic <br />Ressler stated he preferred the sign to be constructed with rock or stone. <br />Pete Kampfer further stated we should contact the owner of the property at <br />the corner of FM 1508 and Highway 271 to obtain permission to place a sign <br />there. Vic Ressler stated there was a rock quarry in Hugo. ~ <br />4. Discussion of and possible acfion on recommending that the Cify Council <br />install a grass landing strip af fhe airport. <br />Jae Crowell was present and requested that the City consider allowing him <br />and others to install a grass landing strip at the airport. Lisa Wright stated <br />that the Council will want to know what costs there will be to the City, and <br />Jerry Richey stated that there will be none. She asked why we needed a grass <br />landing strip, and Jack Ashmore stated that teaching airplanes have tails that <br />are not steerable and can land easier on grass because it is more forgiving. <br />The proposed strip will be located on top of the hill, next to Runway 17135. <br />Lisa Wright asked Jerry Richey if he contacted the FAA to ascertain their <br />thoughts on the matter. Jerry stated that he talked with TXDA and there are <br />no requirements as to where we can put it. <br />_ _ <br />_ , il...._ _ ..Y . . <br />
