RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; <br />EXPRESSING THE SENTIMENT OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO INDIVIDUALLY <br />AND COLLECTNELY PROTECT THE INDEPENDENCE OF THE LAKE PAT <br />MAYSE STUDY COMMITTEE; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, The Lake Pat Mayse Study Committee was established on February 18, 2008; to <br />independently study the availability of water in Lake Pat Mayse; and; <br />WHEREAS, The Lake Pat Mayse Study Committee is composed of citizens and other stakeholders <br />with the expertise necessary to execute the Committee's charge; and; <br />WHEREAS, the work of the Study Committee must be conducted in an environment free of actual or <br />perceived bias and influence from persons outside the Committee in order to successfully provide the <br />Council an impartial assessment of all of the issues related to the availability of water in the lake; and, <br />WHEREAS, City Council Members collectively and individually affirm that they will not do <br />anything that may be perceived as attempting to influence the Lake Pat Mayse Study Committee or its <br />members, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br />Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Paris expresses its sentiment to collectively and <br />individually protect the independence of the Lake Pat Mayse Study Committee and not do anything in fact or <br />appearance that may be perceived as attempting to influence the Committee or its members, including <br />attendance at any of the Committee's meetings or private discussions with committee members about the <br />work of the Committee. <br />Section 3. That this resolution in no way inhibits or prevents the Lake Pat Mayse Study Committee <br />from periodically presenting information to the City Council in written reports or in public meetings. <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this the 24`h day of March, 2008. <br />ATTEST: <br />Jesse James Freelen, Mayor <br />Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br />W.
