DRAFT <br />attorney\reswork\current\Lake Pat Mayse Water Commission Findings Res 2008 <br />March 11, 2008 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />TEXAS, ESTABLISHING CITY COUNCIL'S CONSIDERATION TO <br />FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE LAKE PAT MAYSE <br />WATER STUDY COMMITTEE; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris has appointed a Lake Pat Mayse Water <br />Study Committee comprised of interested citizens from the City of Paris and Lamaz County, Texas <br />to study the feasability of selling excess water, if any, from Lake Pat Mayse to customers outside of <br />Lamar County, Texas; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Lake Pat Mayse Water Committee is charged with the mission of working <br />with City staff, Consultants, Water Rate Consultants and Legal Consultants to determine how much <br />water is being stored at Lake Pat Mayse versus how much water the City needs for its citizens and <br />businesses and water customers. If the Committee determines that there is excess water available <br />for sale, taking into consideration, the City's future needs, the Committee will further study the pros <br />and cons of selling water from Lake Pat Mayse to water customers outside Lamar County, Texas; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council will give due consideration and weight to the findings and <br />recommendations of the Lake Pat Mayse Water Study Committee and if the Committee submits <br />findings that there is or will be excess water available for sale from Lake Pat Mayse and they <br />recommend that the City negotiate with potential customers outside Lamar County, Texas, then this <br />Council urges future City Councils of the City of Paris, Texas to consider placing this issue to a vote <br />of the citizens of Paris before entering into such water supply agreements. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br />Section 2. That the Lake Pat Mayse Water Committee is chazged with the mission of <br />working with City staff, Consultants, Water Rate Consultants and Legal Consultants to determine <br />how much water is being stored at Lake Pat Mayse versus how much water the City needs for its <br />citizens, businesses and water customers. If the Committee determines that there is excess water <br />available for sale, taking into consideration the City's future needs, the Committee will further study <br />the pros and cons of selling water from Lake Pat Mayse to water customers outside Lamar County, <br />Texas. <br />
