A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING CITY COUNCIL'S CONSIDERATION TO FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE LAKE PAT MAYSE WATER STUDY COMMITTEE; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris has appointed a Lake Pat Mayse Water Study Committee comprised of interested citizens from the City of Paris and Lamaz County, Texas to study the feasability of selling excess water, if any, from Lake Pat Mayse to customers outside of Lamar County, Texas; and, WHEREAS, the Lake Pat Mayse Water Committee is charged with the mission of working with City staff, Consultants, Water Rate Consultants and Legal Consultants to determine how much water is being stored at Lake Pat Mayse versus how much water the City needs for its citizens and businesses and water customers. If the Committee determines that there is excess water available for sale, taking into consideration, the City's future needs, the Committee will further study the pros and cons of selling water from Lake Pat Mayse to water customers outside Lamar County, Texas; and, WHEREAS, the City Council will give due consideration and weight to the findings and recommendations of the Lake Pat Mayse Water Study Committee and if the Committee submits findings that there is or will be excess water available for sale from Lake Pat Mayse and they recommend that the City negotiate with potential customers outside Lamar County, Texas, then this Council urges future City Councils of the City of Paris, Texas to consider placing this issue to a vote of the citizens of Paris before entering into such water supply agreements. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the Lake Pat Mayse Water Committee is chazged with the mission of working with City staff, Consultants, Water Rate Consultants and Legal Consultants to determine how much water is being stored at Lake Pat Mayse versus how much water the City needs for its citizens, businesses and water customers. If the Committee determines that there is excess water available for sale, taking into consideration the City's future needs, the Committee will further study the pros and cons of selling water from Lake Pat Mayse to water customers outside Lamar County, Texas.
