MINUTES <br />1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin <br />Starrett, Chairman. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Ann Rogers <br />Sharron Nabors <br />Ben Vaughan, Alternate <br />Jerry Raper, Alternate <br />Susan Scholz (arrived 12:02) <br />Paul Denney (arrived 12:05) <br />The following members were absent: <br />Pike Burkhart, Vice Chairman <br />Nancy Partridge <br />B. Also present was Lisa A. Wright, Historic Preservation Officer. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. Motion was made by Ben <br />Vaughan, seconded by Ann Rogers, to approve the minutes of February 13, <br />2008. Motion carried 5-0. <br />3. Presentation by Earl Erickson and request for support by the Historic <br />Preservation Commission of an extension of the Trail de Paris west from 12th <br />Street S.E. across fhe southern boundary of the Hisforic District into west <br />Paris and on to Union Station and Heritage Park. <br />Susan Scholz arrived. <br />Earl Erickson explained what the Trail de Paris was and about proposed <br />expansion plans and grants. <br />Paul Denney arrived. <br />Mr. Erickson requested a support letter for the Trail de Paris. He stated it <br />would help with later Safe Routes to School Grant applications. Motion was <br />made by Paul Denney, seconded by Susan Scholz to support the project and <br />put in the form of a letter. Motion carried 7-0. <br />4. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness: <br />A. 854 S. Church Street- Richard Hunt- Mr. Hunt, 405 W. Kaufman/2651st <br />Street S.E., stated that this is an interior and exterior remodel. Theywill <br />be replacing rotten areas along with the slate roof. Mr. Hunt further <br />stated they are proposing to replace the roof with a slate lookalike <br />composition shingle. There is a similar roof at 557 S. Main, which is <br />Clifton Fendley's home. He further stated that composition in our area <br />would work better. They will be replacing the back flat panel door later <br />
