In addition, the committee discussed peak data for water consumption. Richard Quarles said
they would need to look at the hottest months to determine the most consumption. Rick McDougall
said they would also have to take into consideration evaporation during those months. Robert
Campbell stated that evaporation losses were probably more than consumption. Herb Campbell told
the committee that water evaporation accounted for 29 million gallons a day.
As discussed at the last meeting, the committee continued working through the briefing book.
5. Discuss goals and objectives for the committee.
Chairman Hayter stated the goal for the committee was to help the City use it's water
resources in the most appropriate manner. He summarized the committee's objectives as
determining the water needs and supplies of Lake Pat Mayse. He also stated they needed to
determine whether or not the City desired to make money; whether or not the City desired recreation
opportunity, or whether or not the City wanted to do both. Sharron Nabors said one of the obj ectives
was to develop and help Paris grow. Ray Ball added that the citizens needed to be given an objective
view. Herb Campbell emphasized if the decision was going to be to sell water, that they did not need
to wait too long. Mr. Campbell said other lakes were being built and there would be a lot of
competition. Richard Quarles added that they needed to stay focused on what they were going to
accomplish.
Dan Smith inquired about forming a sub-committee to work on goals and objectives.
Chairman Hayter expressed that was a good ideal and asked Dan Smith to be the chairman and
Richard Quarles to be the vice-chairman. He also asked John Kruntorad and Ray Ball to serve on
the sub-committee. It was decided that the sub-committee would e-mail information to committee
members a couple of days prior to the next meeting.
6. Possible future agenda items.
Meeting with Jim Matthews.
Report of sub-committee.
7. Adjournment.
There being no further business, a motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Dan Smith
and seconded by Rick McDougall, motion carried unanimous. The meeting was adjourned at 5:53
p.m.
Approved this 15th day of May, 2008.
Reeves Hayter, Chairman
~f11 1 t~
~
