MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />BUILDING AND STANDARDS COMMISSION <br />MONDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2007 <br />4:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. Mary Crumpler, Acting Chairman, called the Building and Standards Commission <br />meeting to order at 4:00 P.M. <br />Roll was called. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />David Nabors <br />Vicki Ballard <br />Harrell Tippitt <br />Lucius Joe, Jr. <br />Chris Brown <br />Mary Crumpler <br />Bill Harris, Alternate <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Zachary Saffle, Alternate <br />Scott Scholz, Alternate <br />The Chairman appointed Lucius Joe, Jr. Acting Secretary for the meeting. <br />2. Approval of Minutes of previous meeting: <br />A motion was made by David Nabors, seconded by Chris Brown, to approve the meeting <br />minutes for June 18, 2007. The motion carried 7-0. <br />3. Public Hearing to consider presentations by City of Paris Code Inspectors and owner(s) <br />and/or lien holder(s) of the below properties who have been given notice of a violation <br />of Article III of Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, <br />entitled "Substandard and Dangerous Buildings and Structures": <br />1. 933 and 935 4th Street S.W.; Lot 5, Block 6, Locust Hill Addition - Cathy Perry, <br />934 3rd Street S. W., stated she bought the property on July 26, 2007. They have seen <br />signs of a lot of drug use in the house. Ms. Perry stated they have been tearing it <br />down, and she said Robert Talley told them they have until the end of the year. <br />Ryan Lassiter arrived at 4:07 PM. <br />She further stated they bought the property next door and cleaned up the City's alley. <br />Motion was made by David Nabors, seconded by Lucius Joe, Jr., to allow 90 days to <br />demolish. If the property is not demolished with in 90 days, the City may demolish, <br />with a$1000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. <br />P. 2613 Lamar Avenue; Lot 5, City Block 222-B - David Norwood, 835 42nd Street <br />S.W., stated they have been using the property for storage of displays for business. <br />They are trying to sell property and it's listed with Century 21. Motion was made by <br />David Nabors, seconded by Harrell Tippitt, to allow 90 days to demolish. If the <br />property is not demolished within 90 days, the City may demolish, with a$1,000 per <br />day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. <br />000011 <br />
