Served as the chairperson and/or as a member on various AWWA committees since 1975 including the Water Rates <br />Committee, the Accounting Committee ond the Accounting, Finance and Management Controls Committee. <br /> <br />Professional Experience <br />Mr. Shaw has more than 30 years of experience specializing in management consulting related to public infrastructure including <br />water, wastewater, solid waste and storm water. He specializes in financial planning and analysis, financial modeling, asset <br />management, information systems technology, operations management, organizational analysis, performance measurement and <br />benchmarking. Mr. Shaw has performed more than 100 related financial analyses of utilities including rate studies, financial <br />modeling, and review of impact and special fees. Mr. Shaw formerly directed KPMG Peat Marwick LLP's consulting services to <br />government owned utilities from 1980 through 1995. Before joining KPMG in 1980, Mr. Shaw was employed at a major <br />metropolitan water and wastewater utility as a Special Projects Manager and as the Assistant Director af Business where he <br />supervised all accounting, finance, rate, meter, information system, customer service and budget activities. Since, 1980, Mr. <br />Shaw has completed an average of 40 hours per year of training focusing on government and utility services, covering the <br />functions of financial management, information systems and operations management. He lIDS been an active participant in <br />AWWA activities since 1975. <br /> <br />Operations Management Project Experience <br />. SAWS Evaluation and Assessment of Water 8. Providing a <br />comprehensive evaluation and assessment of water and wastewater operations for the San Antonia Water System (SAWS) <br />as part of their Continuous Improvement Program. Working directly for the Boord of Directors, scope includes the analysis <br />of general and administrative activities and related costs, benchmarking and an analysis and recommendations on <br />organization and staffing. <br />
