REGDLAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF PARIS <br />July 28, 2008 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met for a regular session at 6:00 P. M. Monday, July 28, <br />2008, at the City Council Chamber, 107 E. Kaufinan, Paris, Texas. <br />Present: Mayor: Jesse James Freelen <br />Council Members: Joe McCarthy; Kevin Kear; Stephen Brown; <br />Will Biard; and Edwin Pickle <br />City Staff: Kevin Carruth, City Manager; Kent McIlyar, <br />City Attorney; Janice Ellis, City Clerk; Gene <br />Anderson, Finance Director; Shawn Napier, <br />City Engineer; Lisa Wright, Community <br />Development Director; Karl Louis, Chief of <br />Police; Doug Harris, Interim Director of <br />Utilities; and Priscilla McAnally, Library <br />Director <br />Absent: Council Member Bi11 Strathern <br />Onening Agenda <br />1. Call meeting to order. <br />Mayor Freelen called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. <br />2. Invocation. <br />Pastor Patrick Cannon of Lamar Avenue Church of Christ gave the invocation. <br />3. Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Council Member Brown led the pledge. <br />4. Citizens Forum. <br />Don McCaskill, Blossom, Texas - on behalf of the Valley of Caddo Museum and Cultural <br />Center, expressed appreciation to Officer Alan Boaz, Sheriff B.J. McCoy, and Chief Karl Louis for <br />their outstanding work during the recent gun and knife show. <br />Gene Ray, 6339 Lamar Road, Reno, Texas - spoke in opposition to the sign ordinance, <br />specifically the provision dealing with temporary signs. <br />.
