Presentation by Reeves Hayter on the progress of the Lake Pat Mayse Water Study <br />Committee. <br />Chairman Reeves Hayter presented to the Council a report on the progress of the Lake Pat <br />Mayse Water Study Committee (See Exhibit "A" incorporated herein.) <br />Mayor Freelen asked Mr. Hayter about citizen participation at their committee meetings. Mr. <br />Hayter responded with there was not a lot of input from citizens during their public forums. Mayor <br />Freelen inquired if the committee would be making a recommendation to the citizens whether or not <br />to sell water. Mr. Hayter said the committee was divided on that issue. Council Member McCarthy <br />asked if that was in the charge to the committee. Mayor Freelen said it was not, but that with their <br />knowledge and resources they should be the ones to make the recommendation. Council Member <br />Brown wanted to know what kind of environmental and economic impact it would have for the public <br />if the lake level was rasied from 451 feet to 455 feet. Mr. Reeves said they did not have that <br />information, but should be able to provide it upon completion of studies done by the engineers. <br />Council Member Kear inquired if they were still on schedule for the volumetric study. Mr. Reeves <br />said they were approximately a week ahead of schedule. Council Member Pickle wanted to know if <br />the water contracts had been reviewed. Kevin Carruth said the water contracts had been forwarded <br />to Jim Matthews for review and the possibility of restructuring some of the contracts. Mayor Freelen <br />said initially Irving wanted to purchase water only at off-peak times and asked if that was still the <br />case. Kevin Carruth said that was correct.
