MINUTES OF THE REGUALR
MEETING OF THE
MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD
February 19. 2008
City Hall Council Chambers
107 E. Kaufman
4:00 p.m.
A meeting of the members of the Paris Main Street Advisory Board was held Tuesday, January
15, 2008 at 4:07 p.m., at City Hall Council Chambers.
PRESENT: Jennifer Long ABSENT
Matthew Coyle
Cindy Allcorn
Kari Daniel
Pike Burkhart
Wyatt Bowden
Larry Womack
Clifton Fendly
Visitors: Shannon Barrentine
Becky Semple
Pete Kampfer
Greg Wilson
Marvin Gorley
Karol Lyn Moore
Zach Saffle
Minutes
January 15, 200$ minutes were reviewed by board members and a motion was made by Pike
Burkhart to approve the nunutes as prepared. Jennifer Long seconded the motion and minutes
were unanimously approved.
Discussion & Action for Particiaation in April Archerv Tournament
Becky Semple asked that the board help recruit volunteers and work at a concession stand at the
Archery Tournament. There will be two concession stands, one run by Main Street one run by
the Paris Visitors & Convention Council. Supplies are bought together for the two stands and the
proceeds are split between the two groups. Last year approximately $2,000 was earned for each
group. The board would need to secure 15 volunteers for this event. Kari Daniel made a motion
that we agree to help with this event. Pike seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Presentation Regardin2 Grand Theatre bv Greg Wilson
Greg was brought to this meeting to discuss his history with the Grand Theatre and what has been
done so far. When Greg moved back to Paris the Grand Theatre was empty and he had a lady
approach him abaut getting a loan to bring the Grand back to life. After this lady's funding was
proving to not be large enough Greg decided to look into the project himself. Using his wife's
marketing background he planed to bring the theatre back to life and have events in the building.
The building is currently under taxing entities control. Greg partnered with his cousin Holland
Harper and had set a budget of approximately $150,000 to bring the building back. The roof
would cost $40,000 (at Harrison, Walker & Harper's cost), just to get electricity to code would be
$90,000. It has been estimated that the roof will cave-in in approximately 4 years, and something
needs to be done before this point in order for the building to be saved. After discovering the task
was larger than originally anticipated Greg turned to Lisa Wright and Bethany Golden. A
. 000036
