Brownfield grant was sought after but was not received at this time. Bethany will be reapplying
for this Grant. Issues with receiving grants is you need a plan and community support. An
estimate of $200,000 was given for the removal of asbestos, pigeon bodies, and to fix the roof.
Greg suggested that someone would need to be hired to keep events booked in the theatre. It
could be used as a community facility with multiple uses. If the outside were fixed it would
change the attitude of the community. In-kind donations to could obtained to help with the
lighting of the marquee. A group did come together to discuss the Grand but there is no
governing body in control of it right now. A group putting on a Branson-type event is donating to
the Grand and the Paris Downtown Association is having a Fashion show to raise money for the
faqade. It was suggested by members of the board that a task force be formed to control the
Grand. The Historical Society has requested a proposal on the facade by architects, which should
be ready soon. A master plan would need to be put together for the complete revitalization of the
Theatre which would cost between $30,000 &$50,000. To put together the plan a hired company
would go from room to room of the building and say what needs to be done, and gives
suggestions for the use of the building.
Presentation Re2ardine Gatewav & Wav-Findins Signs bv Shannon Barrentine
Gateways - Each gateway sign needs and easement of 25' x 100' and each sign will be 12' x
8'.Solar Lighting will be installed with each sign for lighting. Bamey Bray is working with his Attorney for the easement,
Roger Hooper declined due to planting of crops, Dr. Lewis & Heirs are taking it under
consideration and Carol Martin & Heirs declined, feeling it would hurt their property value. Each
property owner will receive $10 for use of the easement. Support is still needed to get 2 declining
property owners to allow use of their property.
Way-Finding - Brown Historic signs will be placed on major thoroughfares & colored signs
(possibly Maroon & Gold) will lead traffic to Various Points of Interest, including Bywaters Park,
Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center, City Hall & Annex, Courthouse, Downtown Plaza,
Farmer's Market, Historic Downtown, Civic Center, Maxey House, Trail de Paris & all schools.
Way finding signs wil] be split up into 4 Quadrants, using Eastbound Hwy 82 & Southbound
Hwy 271 for the NW Quadrant, Eastbound Hwy 82 & Northbound Hwy 19/24 for the SW
Quadrant, Northbound Hwy 19/24, Northbound Hwy 271 & Westbound Hwy 82 for the SE
Quadrant & Eastbound Hwy 82, Southbound FM 195 & Southbound Hwy 271 for the NE
Quadrant.
