MINUTES OF THE REGUALR
MEETING OF THE
MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD
April 15, 2008
Cit,y Hall Council Chambers
107 E. Kaufman
3:00 p.m.
A meeting af the members of the Paris Main Street Advisory Board was held Tuesday, April 15,
2008 at 3:02 p.m., at City Hall Council Chambers.
PRESENT: Kari Daniel
Wyatt Bowden
Cindy Allcorn
Pike Burkhart
Karol Lyn Maore
Marvin Gorley
Jennifer Long
Matthew Coyle
Larry Womack
Becky Semple
Bethany Golden
ABSENT: Clifton Fendley
Zach Saffle
Discussion Reizarding Archerv Tournament Concessions
Approximately $4,000 dollars was raised total, $2,000 going to Main Street and $2,000 going to
the Visitors Convention Council. An additional chamber shoot was held this year on Wednesday
and Thursday and will be held again next year. Archers requested that we have concessions for
that time also and that we sell drinks in the woods while they are shooting. We received great
feedback from the Archers. Charter vans were not used as planned so next year we will probably
only have one van instead of two. Other considerations for next year would be food sponsorship.
Oak Farms will be donating their services. We will not have the ready-made sausages next year
that we had this year; we will go back to the fresh made breakfast. Paris is receiving 3 pages in
the "year book" sent out by the Archers Association. Dates for next year are April ls`_Stn. Need
to start thinking about what we want to use the $2,000 raised for.
Discussion & Possible Action Regarding A Grand Theatre Committee
It was suggested that we look for people outside of just The Paris Downtown Association and
Paris Main Street for committee, including people in the construction, electrical, historical,
financial fields, financial institutes, attorneys and city. Some names suggested included Becky
Semple, Gary Brown, John Brazil, Greg Wilson, Plug Clem & Cindy Allcorn. It needs to be
decided as to what we want the purpose of the building to be. On Apri128t" a contract for survey
will be put before the City Council. The contract would include an assessment of the front fagade
for structural stability and a fagade rendering. Once this survey is complete we will then be able
to get quotes for restoration. A Brownfield Grand will be applied for in October for $250,000 -
$350,000.
What would the purpose of this committee be? We don't want to get a group of professionals
together and not give them some type of direction. They could possibly be responsible for Master
Plan that the Historical Preservation Council is going to want to see. A motion was made by
Marvin Gorley that we hold off on forming committee until after we have more information about
- 000041
