Regular City Council Meeting <br />August 11, 2008 <br />Page 2 <br />Consent Agenda <br />Mayor Freelen inquired if there were any items that Council Members wanted to pull from <br />the Consent Agenda for discussion. Council Member Pickle asked for discussion on items 6, 7, 8, <br />9 and 10. <br />5. Deliberate and act on the approval of minutes from the meetings on July 28, 2008 and August <br />4, 2008. <br />6. Receive and deliberate on reports and/or minutes from the following boards, commissions, <br />and committees: <br />a. Lake Pat Mayse Study Committee. (6-26-08 and 7-10-08) <br />b. City Council Task Force on Code Enforcement. (7-1-08) <br />c. Planning and Zoning Commission. (8-4-08) <br />d. Main Street AdvisoryBoard. (1-15-08; 2-19-08; 3-18-08; 4-15-08; 6-17-08 and 7-22- <br />08) <br />Council Member Pickle asked about the delay in getting the Main Street minutes. Kevin <br />Carruth explained Ms. Golden thought that she had already sent them in and upon learning she had <br />not, she submitted the minutes. <br />7. Deliberate and acceptance of July monthly financial report. <br />Council Member Pickle inquired as to what was being done about delinquent property taxes. <br />Gene Anderson said staff inet with the tax attorney and at that time expressed disatisification with <br />collections. Based on that meeting, Mr. Anderson said the collections should pick up. Council <br />Member Pickle also inquired about publicizing delinquent tax payers in the newspaper. Gene <br />Anderson said that could be done. Council Member Pickle asked Gene to get an estimate for the cost. <br />Mayor Freelen asked staff to first research other cities to find out if they were doing something similar <br />in nature and if it improved their collections. <br />Council Member Biard wanted to know when Council would receive the water rate study and <br />Mr. Anderson said it should be on the next Agenda. <br />8. RESOLUTION NO. 2008-061: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, TEXAS, ACKNOWLEDGING FORMAL RECEIPT OF THE 2008 CERTIFIED <br />APPRAISAL ROLL FOR TAX APPRAISAL PURPOSES; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS <br />AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />Council Member Pickle confirmed with the remainder of the Council that they had received <br />- 0 0 0 0 0 3 <br />
