MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />WEDNESDAY. JUNE 11, 2008 <br />12:00 0'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Pike Burkhart <br />Vice-Chairman. <br />A. T'he following members were present: <br />Pike Burkhart, Vice-Chairman <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />Paul Denney <br />Nancy Partridge <br />Ben Vaughan, Alternate <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Ann Rogers <br />Sharron Nabors <br />Jerry Raper, Alternate <br />C. Also present was Lisa A. Wright, Historic Preservation Officer. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. Motion was made by Susan Scholz, <br />seconded by Ben Vaughan, to approve the minutes of May 14, 2008. Motion canied 5-0. <br />3. Consideration ofand action on thef'ollowing Certificates ofAppropriateness: <br />a. 857 Church Street - Richard Hunt, Contractor - Mr. Hunt stated they are <br />replacing windows with more energy efficient Weathershield windows. <br />They are true divided lite and are identical to what is there now. The roof <br />will be replaced with slate like composition shingles. It is too expensive to <br />save the current roof and it won't last as long. Mr. Hunt further stated the <br />windows will be the same color as existing. Motion was made by Susan <br />Scholz, seconded by Ben Vaughan, to approve the COA. Motion carried <br />5-0. <br />Motion was made by Susan Scholz, seconded by Nancy Partridge, to recuse Paul <br />Denney. Motion carried 4-0. <br />b. 207 Church Street - First Baptist Church - Paul Denney, Architect - Mr. <br />Denney stated the church is proposing a wall between the two northernmost <br />buildings to screen air conditioning units and conduits from view. They <br />further plan to build a multi level mechanical platform behind the wall. <br />Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Susan Scholz, to approve <br />- OQa020 <br />
