--- ~ ORDINANCE NO. 2002-062 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTIONS 6-4, 6-5, AND 6-6 OF ARTICLE I AND SECTIONS 6-22 AND 6-28 OF ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 6 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, TO REPEAL OUTDATED PROVISIONS RELATED TO REQUIREMENTS FOR AN AIRPORT SECURITY DIVISION AND A JOINT AIRPORT ZONING BOARD AND TO OMIT CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS INCIDENT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS ASSOCIATED WITH ENGAGING IN AERONAUTICAL ACTIVITY AT COX FIELD AIRPORT; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that certain provisions in current City ordinances providing for an airport security division and a joint airport zoning board associated with the operation of Cox Field Airport are no longer applicable to the operations of the airport and as such are obsolete and should be repealed; and, WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that certain prerequisites associated with the issuance of permits for aeronautical activities at Cox Field Airport are no longer applicable or need to be revised to be more current in their application; and, WHEREAS, the City Attorney, at City Council's request, has prepared certain amendments to Article I of Chapter 6, Aviation, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris to repeal Section 6-4, which provided for an airport security division, and Section 6-5, which provided for a joint airport zoning board, because Sections 6-4 and 6-5 are no longer applicable to the operations ofthe airport and therefore are obsolete and outdated; and, WHEREAS, the City Attorney, at City Council's request, has prepared certain amendments to Sections 6-22 and 6-28 of Article II of Chapter 6 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris to omit or revise the aforesaid criteria associated with the issuance of permits for aeronautical activities at Cox Field Airport; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris finds and determines that the proposed amendments are necessary to update the Code of Ordinances and update the current prerequisites for issuance of permits and to preserve the public health, safety, and welfare ofthe citizens ofthe City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things approved.
