COPS in Schools Application Forms

H. Supervision Responsibility and Chain of Command for the SRO
(This section should clearly establish a definitive chain of command for the SRO,
including the individual(s) responsible for the supervision of the SRo. With rare
exception, this responsibility lies with the law enforcement executive or their law
enforcement designee.)

The school resource officer answers immediately to
the Lieutenant of the Criminal Investigation Division,
who in turn answers to the Chief of Police.

I. Decision-Making Authority Regarding Enforcement of Applicable
Laws and Procedures by the SRO
(This section outlines the mutual understanding between the law enforcement
agency and school or school district partner(s) with regard to the scope of
authority of the SRO(s) to enforce state, local, and federal laws.)

The school resource~officer is employed by, and will be
directed and supervised by the City of Paris Police
Department and will fairly and objectively enforce, the
law. However, the SRO will also work with the Chisum
I.S.D. to assist with any policy and enhancing school
safety as long as it does not conflict with established
law enforcement pOlicy/regulations.

J. Evaluation of the Program/Grant Project
(This section identifies the partner(s) responsible for any evaluation of the
overall effectiveness of the SRO program.)

The Chief of Police and designated school official
will meet with the SRO and commanding Lieutenant as
needed to observe the progress of the grant and see to
compliance of the project.

40
