<br />Department 43 <br />Parks and Recreation <br /> <br />The Parks and Recreation Director I Main Street Director is the administrative officer for this <br />department. Personnel of this department are responsible for the planning, construction, <br />programming, maintenance and administration of all parks, open spaces, leisure facilities and <br />leisure services. Recreational programs for all ages are planned, promoted, and coordinated at City <br />parks, Paris Independent School District facilities, and the Paris Aquatic Center. The Main Street <br />Program strives to improve the attractiveness of the downtown area and attempts to expand <br />community involvement in downtown revitalization. <br /> <br />Division 44 <br />Sanitation <br /> <br />The Director of Public Works is the administrative officer for this division of the Public Works <br />Department. Employees of this division are responsible for the collection and disposal of residential <br />solid waste. Limbs and brush are collected separately and are dispc.sed of in the City Compost <br />Facility. Street sweeping of the major thoroughfares, collector streets, and residential streets is <br />provided throughout th,e. year to maintain cleanliness in the City. <br /> <br />Division 46 <br />Streets and Highways <br /> <br />The Director of Public Works is the administrative officer for this division of the Public Works <br />Department. Personnel in this division maintain all City streets, rig ht-of-ways , alleyways, and <br />drainage facilities to ensure proper drainage and safe and continuous traffic flow, as well as <br />cleaning and mowing right-of-ways and alleyways. A priority of the Street Division each year is the <br />planning and implementation of a preventative maintenance program consisting of applying chip- <br />seal to a portion of the streets. The hot-mix overlay of several miles of street each year and the <br />upgrading of gravel and unimproved streets are accomplished as funding is available. <br /> <br />Division 48 <br />Traffic and Public Lighting <br /> <br />The Director of Public Works is the administrative officer for this division of the Public Works <br />Department. Personnel in this division are responsible for the construction, operation, and <br />maintenance of the City's traffic control devices. Pavement markings, signs, and signals are <br />maintained for the safe and efficient flow of traffic. The expense of operating the street lights of the <br />City are funded through this department. <br /> <br />~ <br />
