<br />Division 49 <br />Garage <br /> <br />The Director of Public Works is the administrative officer for this division of the Public Works <br />Department. Employees of this division are responsible for the maintenance and servicing of City <br />owned vehicles, equipment, and machinery. <br /> <br />Department 51 <br />Paris - Lamar County Health Department <br /> <br />The City of Paris and the Lamar County government with the financial assistance of the Texas <br />Department of Health, sponsor the operation of the Paris - Lamar County Health Department. The <br />City and County jointly appoint a Board of Health responsible for the administration of the Health <br />Department, a separate agency from the City. This department budget is included in the budget <br />of the City for the purpose of publication and financial control. Employees of this department are <br />responsible for protecting the public health through immunization programs, the operation of an <br />STD clinic, health inspections, restaurant inspections and food handlers training, mosquito control, <br />well baby clinics, and family planning programs. A Rural Health Clinic is also operated within the <br />Health Department, oftering the services of a Family Nurse Practitioner directed by a physician. <br />The Women, Infants and Children program (WIC) also operates within the location of the Health <br />Department. WICis a federal program funded through the State providing nutrition counseling and <br />assistance for women and young children. All funding to operate the WIC program comes from the <br />State. Much of the funding for the other services comes from State grants and patient fees. The <br />shortfall in the operations, if any, is funded on a 50/50 basis by the City and Lamar County. <br /> <br />Department 54 <br />Emergency Medical Service <br /> <br />The Fire Chief is the administrative officer for this department. Employees of this department <br />provide emergency and non-emergency ambulance service within the City and to the rural areas <br />and other cities of Lamar County through a contractual relationship with Lamar County. Long <br />distance ambulance transportation is provided for patients requiring treatment or facilities not <br />available in Paris. Two ambulances are staffed and equipped at the Mobile Intensive Care Unit <br />level 24 hours-a-day. A third ambulance provides non-emergency transportation from 8:00 a.m. <br />through 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. A call crew is available 24 hours-a-day by beeper. <br />Office personnel of this department are responsible for the billing and collection of the EM.S. <br />accounts receivable. The EM.S. Department coordinates, trains and promotes the First Responder <br />Program throughout Lamar County and also promotes the Think Child Safety Program, Think <br />Senior Safety Program, and the Mobile Safety Vehicle Program. <br /> <br />~ <br />
