Louis Yates, 1815 Majestic, spoke in favor of the petition. Mr. Yates stated owner <br />wants to build a triplex. There are some duplexes in the area. <br />B. No one spoke in opposition. <br />C. Public hearing was declared closed. <br />Motion was made by Bill Harris, seconded by Curtis Fendley to approve the zoning change <br />request. Motion carried 6-0. <br />5. Public hearing and consideratiorz of and action on the petition of David and Eddy Thomas <br />. for a change in zoning from a Planned Development District (PD-a) Retail Shopping <br />Center to a General RetaiZ Distr•ict (GR) on Lot 1, City Block 289, being number 3210 <br />Lamar Avenue. <br />A. Public hearing was declared open. <br />Eddy Thomas, 1075 36`i' Street S.E., spoke in favor of the petition. NIr. Thomas <br />stated he misunderstood that Planned Development would require him to come to <br />the Commission. <br />B. No one spoke in opposition. <br />C. Public hearing was declared closed. <br />Bill Harris stated Planned Development designation is to help protect the <br />residences behind this lot. Reeves Hayter stated he doesn't see how this benefits <br />the community. Bill Harris stated if we change designation from Planned <br />Development this is opening a can of worms. The Planned development protects <br />the neighborhood. Reeves Hayter further stated could also create a traffic <br />problem. Planned Development lets Planning and Zoning control entrances and <br />exits. Motion was made by Curtis Fendley, seconded by Darin Manning to <br />approve the petition. Motion failed 3-3. <br />ITEMS 3.B. AND 6. WERE COMBINED: <br />3. Public hearing to provide an opportunity to present comments and written evidence and <br />consideration ofand action on recommending to the ciry Gouncil the adoption ofproposed <br />amendments to the Future Land Use Plan Map as follows: <br />B. That the , fiiture land use recommended for the property located on 6 S acre tract <br />being a part of the Enoch Crow Survey, Abstract No. 208, being located in the 4000 <br />Bloch- of Lamar Avenue, be changed from Low Densiry Residential to High Density <br />Residential. <br />
