MINU'TES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2008 <br />12:00 0`CLOCK P.M. <br />L The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, <br />Chairman. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Paul Denney, Vice Chairman <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary (arrived 12:05) <br />Matt Coyle (arrived 12:05) <br />Jerry Raper <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Brad Archer <br />C. Also present was Lisa Wright, Historic Preservation Officer and Bethany Golden, <br />Main Street Manager. <br />2. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate ofAppropriateness: <br />A. 854 Church Street - Richard Hunt - Mr. Hunt, 265 1 St Street S. E., representing <br />Todd Scott, stated that they are adding 140 square feet to the kitchen and a garage to the <br />backyard. The existing garage is nor repairable. Mr. Hunt further stated they are trying <br />to make the new garage fit with the style of the house but not look historical in <br />accordance with the SOI Standards. It will be a free span covered in EIFS so it will <br />match the east wing garden room. Mr. Hunt stated that the roof will be low profile <br />standing seam; and it will be similar to the low slope roof over the sunroom. <br />Susan Scholz and Matt Coyle arrived at 12:05 p.m. <br />Chairman Starrett advised that this item was a public hearing because of the nature of the <br />work. The public hearing was declared open. No one spoke in favor or opposition, and <br />the public hearing declared closed. <br />Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Susan Scholz, to approve the COA. <br />Motion carried 6-0. <br />B. 24 and 26 Clarizsville Street - Ar•tesia Enterprises - John Brazile, employed by <br />Artesia, stated that they propose to rernove the metal trim and expose the windows, which <br />they believe are intact. They also propose removal of the metal pitched awning to <br />uncover the original flat awning, and this will expose the mezzanine level windows. <br />
