RESOLUTION NO. 2009-058 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; <br />ESTABLISHING A FORM AND PROCEDURE FOR COUNCIL MEMBERS TO <br />REQUEST ITEMS TO BE PLACED ON MEETING AGENDAS; MAKING OTHER <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, establishing a form and procedure for City Council Members to use to request items to <br />be placed on a City Council meeting agenda promotes orderly meetings and staff efficiency; and; <br />WHEREAS, the use of an agenda request form eliminates any confusion about an item requested by <br />Council Members and ensures that the item is addressed as expected by the Council Member; and, <br />WHEREAS, the continued use of "Deliberate on possible future agenda items" as a routine agenda <br />item is not required and not having the item on the agenda will promote the use of the proposed form and <br />procedure; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed form and procedure conforms with the Council-Staff Operating <br />Agreements adopted July 17, 2008; <br />WHEREAS, the process was tested successfully for six months; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br />Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Paris hereby adopts the form and procedure for <br />requesting items to be placed on Council Meeting Agenda attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated <br />herein by reference. <br />Section 3. That the City Manager is authorized to make administrative changes to the form and <br />procedure from time to time as needed. <br />Section 4. That the routine placement of an agenda item such as "Deliberate on possible future <br />agenda items" is no longer required. <br />Section 5.
