b. Public Information. <br />1) Primary responsibility for this function is assigned to the Paris Police Department, <br />who will prepare and maintain Annex I(Public Information) to this plan and <br />supporting SOPs. <br />2) Emergency tasks to be performed include: <br />a) Establish a Joint Information Center (JIC) <br />b) Conduct on-going hazard awareness and public education programs. <br />c) Pursuant to the Joint Information System (JIS), compile and release <br />information and instructions for the public during emergency situations and <br />respond to questions relating to emergency operations. <br />d) Provide information to the media and the public during emergency situations. <br />e) Arrange for media briefings. <br />fl Compiles print and photo documentation of emergency situations. <br />c. Recovery. <br />1) Primary responsibility for this function is assigned to the City of Paris Engineer, <br />who will prepare and maintain Annex J(Recovery) to this plan and supporting <br />SOPs. <br />2) Emergency tasks to be performed include: <br />a) Establish and train a damage assessment team using local personnel. <br />Coordinate the efforts of that team with state and federal damage <br />assessment personnel who may be dispatched to assist us. <br />b) Assess and compile information on damage to public and private property <br />and needs of disaster victims and formulate and carry out programs to fill <br />those needs. <br />c) If damages are beyond our capability to deal with, compile information for <br />use by our elected officials in requesting state or federal disaster assistance. <br />d) If we are determined to be eligible for state or federal disaster assistance, <br />coordinate with state and federal agencies to carry out authorized recovery <br />programs. <br />d. Public Works & Engineering. <br />1) Primary responsibility for this function is assigned to the City of Paris Public <br />Works, who will prepare and maintain Annex K(Public Works & Engineering) to <br />this plan and supporting SOPs. <br />2) Emergency tasks to be performed include: <br />a) Protect government facilities and vital equipment where possible. <br />b) Assess damage to streets, bridges, traffic control devices, and other public <br />facilities. <br />c) Direct temporary repair of vital facilities. <br />Ver 2.0 BP-20 <br />05/05 <br />
