MINUTES OF THE FIRE AND BUILDING CODE REVIEW COMMITTEE <br />CITY COUNCIL CHAMBER <br />107 E. KAUFMAN STREET, PARIS, TEXAS <br />February 9, 2010 <br />5:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. Call meeting to order. <br />Chairman Waldrum called the meeting to order at 5:07 p.m. The following members <br />were present: Jordan Harper, Gary Brown, Mike Davenport, Kim Stephens, and Carolyn <br />Whelchel. Also, present were city staff Ronnie Grooms, Dale Mayberry, and Shawn Napier. <br />Council Members Pickle and Kear were in attendance. City Manager Kevin Carruth and City <br />Attorney Kent McIlyar were attending a Paris Economic Development Corporation meeting. <br />2. Deliberate and act on the approval of minutes from the meeting on January 26, 2010. <br />It was a consensus of the Committee to approve the minutes as presented. <br />3. Deliberate and review of the Fire and Building Codes. <br />Chairman Waldrum apologized that the sub-committee was not able to get together prior <br />to this meeting. He said that he had completed review of the book and proposed ordinance, and <br />that he thought they should adopt the 2006 Fire Code. Chairman Waldrum stated that he thought <br />some of the proposed sections in the ordinance should be deleted. Jordan Harper agreed with <br />Chairman Waldrum. John Fuston suggested they adopt the Code and use it for a couple of years, <br />then review it to see if they needed to make any amendments. Bryan Hargis agreed with Mr. <br />Fuston. The Committee reviewed the amendments beginning on page 1 and finished their <br />review through page 11 with Section 308.3.1. as set out in Exhibit "A" attached and incorporated <br />herein. <br />Dale Mayberry said these amendments were the result of recommendations by COG. <br />4. Future agenda items. <br />The Committee will next meet on February 23, 2010. <br />5.
