Minutes <br />Traffic Commission <br />City of Paris <br />The Traffic Commission met on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010, at 5:15 P.M. in the <br />Municipal Courtroom with the following members present: <br />1. Matt Frierson (arrived during item #3) <br />2. Ray Banks <br />3. Jon McFadden <br />4. Stephen Holmes <br />5. George Kimbrough <br />The city staff was represented by Asst. Chief Randy Tuttle. <br />Councilman Joe McCarthy was present a council liaison member <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:17pm by Chairman Kimbrough. A quorum <br />was established by 5 members being present. <br />Mr. Kimbrough asked the commission members to review the submitted minutes <br />of the February 2, 2010 meeting. Mr. Banks made a motion to approve the <br />minutes which was seconded by Mr. Holmes and passed 4-0. <br />Mr. Kimbrough moved to item #3 regarding the discussion and action for a <br />request to place a school zone at the new Paris High School on S. Collegiate <br />from Jefferson Rd south to Loop 286. After discussion of this item Mr. Holmes <br />made a motion for the placement of a school zone at this location. The motion <br />was seconded by Mr. Banks and passed 5-0. <br />Mr. Kimbrough moved to item #4 regarding discussion and action concerning a <br />request for a school zone in the 2000 block 24th SE. Mr Tuttle informed the <br />members that the City Engineer did not recommend placement of a school zone <br />at this location. After discussion of this item a motion to deny the request was <br />made by Mr. Holmes and second by Mr. Banks. Motion passed 5-0. <br />Mr. Kimbrough moved to item #5 regarding discussion and action concerning <br />traffic study at 33rd SE & Lamar. Mr Tuttle advised members that TXDOT had <br />completed the traffic study and recommended a traffic signal be placed to control <br />traffic leaving the Continental Village apartments into the intersection. A <br />pedestrian crossing at west side and south side of intersection was also <br />proposed. After discussion of this item Mr. McFadden made a motion for <br />placement of traffic signal and pedestrian crosswalk at this location and <br />seconded by Mr. Banks. Motion passed 5-0. <br />49 <br />
