Developed <br />and wrote the regional School-to-Work Grant from the Department of Labor and the <br />Criminal Justice Division's Drug Free Schools and Communities Grant. Administered the <br />day to day operation of the Coalition office. Effectively communicated the Coalition's <br />mission, vision, successes and needs to the community. Developed agenda for board <br />meetings and submitted monthly reports to the Board of Directors. Built community <br />support for the Coalition through personal contacts with business and industry leaders <br />and through active participation with the county's educational institutions. Sought <br />funding through grants and foundations to supplement existing resources to provide a <br />basis for the continuation of the program. Presented to various groups in the community, <br />prepared press releases and worked with the media to publicize the Coalition. Maintained <br />active relationships with various regional, state and national associations. Researched and <br />recommended new ideas, programs and methodologies for reaching program goals. <br />Organization received USA TODAY'S National Community Solutions for Education <br />Award in 1995. <br />Also, developed and wrote the grant for $1.2 million dollar Title V-Abstinence <br />Education Grant from the Texas Department of Health. Director for Project SAVE <br />(Sexual AbstinenceNalues Education) a program of the Lamar County Coalition of <br />Education, Business and Industry. Responsible for development, implementation and <br />coordination of program components, financial management of grant and compliance <br />with Texas Department of Health regulations and procedures. Additionally responsible <br />for contract negotiations, record keeping, supervision of staff and program activities; <br />ensuring that program goals and objectives were met within prescribed timelines. Overall <br />management of TDH contract. <br />1992 -1994 Executive Director, American Red Cross, Lamar County Chapter <br />Developed and directed all Red Cross programs for Lamar County. Coordinated <br />Health and Safety Courses, including CPR, Standard First Aid, Water Safety and <br />Lifeguarding. Recruited, trained, and scheduled volunteers. Prepared presentation, <br />narrative and budget, for United Way. Developed system for providing services to <br />military families on the local level. Initiated planning for Disaster Preparedness training. <br />Did public presentations of program to civic, service, educational and business groups. <br />Served as a board member and board chairman subsequent to leaving ED position. <br />Wrote numerous grants, both governmental and foundational to expand funding base and <br />scope of programs <br />1985 to 1992 - District Supervisor/Regional Operations Coordinator, for the Alamo <br />Area Council of Governments Job Training Partnership Program. San Antonio, <br />Texas <br />Developed and implemented Title II, Title III, Title IIB and IIC JTPA programs <br />for a four-county area.
