Paris Public Library Advisory Board
Minutes
June 23, 2010
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at 4 p.m. in the Library Gallery with
Chairman Bill Kennedy presiding. Also in attendance were Library Director Priscilla McAnally, Friends of the
Library Chairman Amanda Green, and Board Members Deborah Hatley, Debbie Anderson and Eddie Poole.
Eddie was welcomed back after several months of necessary absences. He has been missed, and is now
recovering well from his accident.
Minutes from the previous meeting were approved as printed.
The proposed 2010-2011 budget has undergone about $5500 in cuts, mostly from the travel and programs line
items. The total proposed library budget is approximately $644,000.
There was about $25,000 left in the materials budget at the end of June. The Director will provide a summary
report on the library memorial funds at the next meeting.
Statistical report reflected a slight dip from last year in circulation and visits.
The Friends recent newsletter generated $300-$400 in new memberships. A wine and cheese event is being
planned, and new book bags are available at the library circulation desk. The Friends will purchase a laptop
computer to be used in conjunction with the ELMO.
Downloadable music is now available on the library website, and audio books should be available soon. It may
also be possible to download ebooks through TexShare.
The second computer class was held and was full. A blood drive with the theme "Give blood, cure a fine" is in
the works. The travel talk program was poorly attended.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:25 p.m.
Submitted by
Debbie Anderson, Secretary
