Decided to remove planters that <br /> were added in the 1980's some were broken and falling off. Corners where trees were <br /> removed - decomposed granite with smaller plants that will not distract from the actual <br /> Fountain. Edwin Pickle suggested talking to Keep Paris Beautiful for monies. James <br /> Brockway suggested Texas wildflower. Also researching bike racks for the square. <br /> Future Goals - re-sod the entire Fountain area. August 1 s` volunteers going to be at the <br /> Market to help clean up the grass area at 6 in the evening if anyone is interested in <br /> helping. Paul suggested a letter be written to the Founders Lions Club Paris asking for <br /> donations for the bike racks. Ashlea suggested finding someone local to make the bike <br /> racks and put their name on it. <br /> <br /> PROMOTIONS - Movies in the Park has been Very successful so far this year! Record <br /> attendance each night with Jurassic Park coming in as the largest crowd so far with over <br /> 350 in attendance! Planning will start earlier for next year. Meeting will be scheduled <br /> after the full season is over for sometime in August. <br /> <br /> Shop local - McAllister Christmas giveaway gives away $10,000 in cash at Christmas in <br /> a town of 12,000 people. This will promote shopping local for Christmas. A business <br /> will buy into the program and get a roll of tickets and each time the customer comes into <br /> the store and get at ticket for each $10 that spend. Great campaign to promote people in <br /> Paris to shop in Paris and get out of town shoppers to come shop in Paris to get these <br /> tickets and have a chance to win the prize money. Tuesday before Christmas is the best <br /> to do the drawing. Events are going on and other prizes are given out to keep people <br /> downtown for about 2 hours or so. CPA firm keeps up with the numbers and it will be <br /> announced that the ticket was bought at........and you have 5 minutes to get to the square. <br /> They have to be locally owned businesses. For example McDonald's could participate <br /> because it is a locally owned franchise. McAllister sold 800,000 tickets last year. Mindy <br /> & Cheri have already agreed to send out a letter to merchants. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 26 <br />
