Artexia - Purchasing of the Grand Theatre oil painting
Paris Winery - $5 for each wine bottle that was sold by the Paris winery with a label of
the Grand Theatre oil painting

DISCUSSION ON GRAND THEATRE PROGRESS - Kim Lacey & Paul Denney

Grants have been received for the Grand Theater - $15,000 architectural rendering and
descriptions for the Fagade improvements.

The Grand Theater also received $200,000 Brownfield grand to clean up all the
hazardous waste that is in the Theatre. Using an architect to clean up so that they will
remove only what needs to be removed and not remove historic aspects of the building.
Denney will go in and do a historical inventory to see what all needs to stay intact and
things that needs to be removed. Some wall murals with lead based paint is an example
of things they don't want to remove. Concrete plan needs to be made in order to know
what to do next.
Hoblitzelle name has been associated with the grand and there is a foundation for them so
there are more grants available with them.
A plan for the Grand is going to be the next step to see what needs to be done.
There are very few grants through the state and you can get more through the searchable
database of non-profits to try and find more grants.

Paul - Paul found a scrapbook from the Aikin Library that has a history on the Grand.
The Grand was located basically where it is now before the 1916 fire. Just after the fire it
was rebuilt and a new marquee was put in and opened around Christmas in 1916. In the
20's theatres were made flashier but in the time when the Grand was built it was very
plan. The 20's were when the Plaza theatre was remolded to look the way it does now.
Porcelain enamel colored was added and has held up fairly well to so many years of sun.
Paul thinks this could be replaced reasonably since there is just a small amount of it on
the front.
Most of the building is concrete frame and construction so if we can keep the roof taken
care of the building should not decay to much further and can be restored to be usable
Wyatt asked what it would be useable for?
Paul suggested a performing arts building or something to that effect. And suggested a
committee being formed and going and talking to other theaters about what has worked
for them. And moving the Main Street office into the theatre. That building means to
much to many people to let it continue to just sit. City needs to be part of the planning
because they will be the recipients of a lot of the Grant money. Could form a committee
under the City like was done for the Fire Code and Task Force
Step One - 3rd Graphic Rendering
Step Two - Working drawings for type pricing, there are no drawings at this time to scale
of the building. There are some groups that want to take this on as a fundraiser but need
a better idea of monies. Wyatt suggested that the $6,000 be used to fix the fluorescents
behind the letters.

25
