The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, <br /> Chainnan at 12:06 p.m. <br /> <br /> A. The following members were present: <br /> Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br /> Douglas Cox <br /> Ben Vaughan <br /> Susan Scholz, Secretary <br /> Paul Denney, Vice-Chairman <br /> Matt Coyle <br /> <br /> B. The following members were absent: <br /> Jerry Raper <br /> <br /> C. Also present were Jeanna Scott, City Staff, and Rhonda Rogers, City Council <br /> Member. <br /> <br /> 2. Discussion of and possible action on the creation of a Commission rule to make <br /> allowances.for the alteration of the primary facade of certain buildings in the Downtown <br /> Historic District. <br /> <br /> Arvin Starrett, Chairman, read the following proposed rule to the commission: <br /> <br /> The Commission, on a case-by-case basis, may allow the alteration of the primary fagade <br /> of a building in the Downtown Historic District. The following criteria must be met; (a) <br /> The building must be a stand-alone structure and not a part of a series of contiguous <br /> structures; (b) its construction date must be post-1935; (c) its present architectural styling <br /> is not that of the preponderance of downtown buildings built from Cr. 1917 to 1935; and <br /> (d) the alteration must mimic the present architectural styling of the structure. <br /> <br /> Chairman Starrett requested discussion on the rule. Commissioners unanimously agreed <br /> with verbiage as presented. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Susan Scholz, seconded by Douglas Cox to adopt the rule.
