Minutes <br />Traffic Commission <br />City of Paris <br />The Traffic Commission met on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at 5:15 P.M. in <br />the Municipal Courtroom with the following members present: <br />1. Ken Kohls <br />2. Barry Shiver <br />3. Jon McFadden <br />4. Stephen Holmes <br />The city staff was represented by Asst. Chief Randy Tuttle. City Council Liaison <br />Joe McCarthy was present as was student representative Alex Salas. <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:15pm by Chairman Stephen Holmes. A <br />quorum was established by 4 members being present. <br />Mr. Holmes moved to item #2 to approve minutes from July 6, 2010 meeting. Mr. <br />McFadden made a motion to approve minutes after corrections were made. Mr. <br />Kohls second the motion. Motion carried 4-0. <br />Mr. Holmes moved to item #3 regarding the presentation of information to extend <br />the hours of school speed zone at 2900 SE Loop 286. Mr. Tuttle informed the <br />members that a request had been made to amend the ordinance to include after <br />school activities such as football games when there is a high volume of traffic. Mr <br />Tuttle informed members that TXDOT had approved the changes. After <br />discussion a consensus of inembers recommended to refer this for council <br />approval. <br />Mr. Holmes moved to item #4 regarding the presentation of information <br />concerning the extension of 35 mph school speed zone to the east of the east <br />entrance into Paris High School at 2900 SE Loop 286. Mr. Tuttle informed <br />members that a request had been made to extend the 35 mph school speed <br />zone to include the east drive because the school speed zone now in that area <br />was 55 mph and for safety reasons needed to be included in the 35 mph zone. <br />Mr. Tuttle informed members that TXDOT had approved the change. After <br />discussion a consensus of inembers recommended to refer this for council <br />approval. <br />Mr. Holmes moved to item #5 a request for future agenda items. Mr. Salas had <br />traffic issued with locations in Oak Creek Addition and the N. Collegiate area <br />15 <br />
