• Investigate insurance fraud • Arrest offenders and use the required follow-up for prosecution • Set and appear at hearings to restore the stolen property • Communicate with pawn details to develop possible leads or suspects (LEADS ON LINE and Paris Police database of pawn tickets) • Educate the officers and public in ways to prevent vehicle thefts and BMV's • Inspect salvage dealers, repair shops, and vehicle dealers • Assist Tax-Assessors in identifying fraudulent documents • Assist Tax-Assessors in training personnel on proper documentation The Northeast Texas ATTF will continue to do H.E.A.T. programs with VIN etchings when requested. We make public presentations to civic groups and have booths at local fairs and car shows. We have been asked to instruct police academy students during their basic training and plan to assist in (2) two classes in 2011. We are also instructing a block of instruction in the Citizens Police Academies that are currently being held in Paris. We work with all agencies in our coverage area to combat auto theft and other related crimes. Continuing goals of the Northeast Texas ATTF for next year are: • Strive to continue the reduction of auto theft in our coverage area • Continue our efforts at crime prevention • Strive to reduce the Burglary Motor Vehicles rate 3o in our coverage area • Work diligently to present two Auto Theft Training classes • Continue the monthly meetings with agencies and prosecutors to determine the types and locations of investigations our officers are trained in cultural diversity, public awareness, and legal updates of all Federal, State, and case laws on a regular basis.
