• Investigate insurance fraud <br />• Arrest offenders and use the required follow-up for prosecution <br />• Set and appear at hearings to restore the stolen property <br />• Communicate with pawn details to develop possible leads or <br />suspects (LEADS ON LINE and Paris Police database of pawn <br />tickets) <br />• Educate the officers and public in ways to prevent vehicle <br />thefts and BMV's <br />• Inspect salvage dealers, repair shops, and vehicle dealers <br />• Assist Tax-Assessors in identifying fraudulent documents <br />• Assist Tax-Assessors in training personnel on proper <br />documentation <br />The Northeast Texas ATTF will continue to do H.E.A.T. programs with VIN <br />etchings when requested. We make public presentations to civic groups and <br />have booths at local fairs and car shows. We have been asked to instruct <br />police academy students during their basic training and plan to assist in <br />(2) two classes in 2011. We are also instructing a block of instruction in <br />the Citizens Police Academies that are currently being held in Paris. <br />We work with all agencies in our coverage area to combat auto theft and <br />other related crimes. <br />Continuing goals of the Northeast Texas ATTF for next year are: <br />• Strive to continue the reduction of auto theft in our coverage area <br />• Continue our efforts at crime prevention <br />• Strive to reduce the Burglary Motor Vehicles rate 3% in our coverage <br />area <br />• Work diligently to present two Auto Theft Training classes <br />• Continue the monthly meetings with agencies and prosecutors to determine <br />the types and locations of investigations <br />Our officers are trained in cultural diversity, public awareness, and <br />legal updates of all Federal, State, and case laws on a regular basis. <br />ABTPA-29 <br />
