Minutes <br />Traffic Commission <br />City of Paris <br />The Traffic Commission met on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at 5:15 P.M. in the <br />Municipal Courtroom with the following members present: <br />1. Ken Kohls <br />2. Barry Shiver <br />3. Matt Frierson <br />4. Stephen Holmes <br />The city staff was represented by Asst. Chief Randy Tuttle. Chief Bob Hundley <br />was also present. <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:23pm by Chairman Stephen Holmes. A <br />quorum was established by 4 members being present. <br />Mr. Holmes moved to item #2 to approve minutes from March 8, 2011 meeting. <br />Mr. Shiver made a motion to approve minutes and Mr. Kohls second the motion. <br />Motion carried 4-0. <br />Mr. Holmes moved to item #3 regarding discussion and possible action on <br />installing a four-way stop sign at 20th NE & E. Price. Mr. Tuttle informed members <br />that a citizen had requested the Traffic Commission consider placing a four-way <br />stop at this location due to heavy traffic. After discussion of the issue Mr. Kohls <br />made a motion to deny the request. The motion was seconded by Mr. Frierson <br />and motion carried 4-0. <br />Mr. Holmes moved to item #4 regarding the presentation of information to the <br />Traffic Commission regarding the request for TXDOT to install a protected- <br />permissive left turn signal at Clarksville & Collegiate Drive. Mr. Tuttle informed <br />members that TXDOT was in the process of installing a protected-permissive left <br />turn signal at Clarksville and Collegiate for east and west bound traffic on <br />Clarksville St. and should be completed soon. <br />Mr. Holmes moved to item #5 regarding the discussion and possible action <br />regarding the installation of stop sign at 3rd NW & W. Provine. This item had been <br />tabled at March 8, 2011 meeting. Mr. Shiver made a motion to remove the item <br />from table. Mr. Frierson second the motion and it carried 4-0. Mr. Tuttle informed <br />members that citizens had complained about traffic at the intersection not <br />stopping which created a traffic hazard almost causing traffic accidents. Mr. <br />Tuttle informed members that there had been three accidents at the intersection <br />I.. . 11 <br />
