11 - Seal Casting to Chimney
Cementitious materials are normally used to seal a frame to the top of the
manhole chimney. This seal can become damaged and allow inflow of water into
the manhole. Rehabilitation entails excavation to expose the frame to chimney
connection, and removal of the frame. The frame is re-sealed and backfilled,
followed by pavement replacement, if necessary.
12 - Seal Castiniz to Cone
Cementitious materials are normally used to seal a frame to the top of the
manhole cone, if no chimney is present. This seal can become damaged and
allow inflow of water into the manhole. Rehabilitarion entails excavation to
expose the frame to cone connection, and removal of the firame. The frame is re-
sealed and backfilled, followed by pavement replacement, if necessary.
13 - Plug and Waterproof Coat Manhole Chimnev
Various defects can develop in chimneys, permitting inflow through cracked or
missing mortar, holes, and defective or missing bricks. This rehabilitarion method
consists of cleaning the wa11s, repairing holes and cracks, and applying cement
based grout in multiple layers.
14 - Plug Lift Holes in Manhole Chimnev
The sealant material used to seal the precast lift holes has deteriorated or is
leaking. This rehabilitation method addresses removal of the deteriorated sealing
material and replacement with non-shrink grout or other sealant.
15 - Rebuild Manhole Chimney
The manhole chimney is deteriorated to the point where it is structurally unsound
and standard repair methods will not be effective. This rehabilitation method
addresses excavating to expose the manhole down to the chimney to cone joint,
installing a new chimney, re-seating the frame, backfilling, and pavement
replacement.
ADS Environmental Services, Inc.
VI-11
