DRAFT <br />[H:JANICE ELLIS\CURRENT\MAIN STREET\RE-ESTABLISH] <br />July 2, 2004 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, RE-ESTABLISHING THE MAIN STREET ADVISORY <br />BOARD; APPOINTING A SEVEN (7) MEMBER MAIN STREET <br />ADVISORY BOARD WITH FOUR(4) ALTERNATE MEMBERS; <br />ESTABLISHING STAGGERED THREE(3) YEAR TERMS FOR BOTH <br />VOTING MEMBERS AND ALTERNATE MEMBERS; MAKING OTHER <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 9th day of <br />March, 1998, by Resolution No. 98-031, establish the Main Street Project Advisory Board; and, <br />WHEREAS, although said Board was originally created to consist of ten (10) members, <br />the City Council found and determined that said Board should consist of an odd number of <br />members in order to effectively conduct business, and by adoption of Resolution No. 2001-117, <br />on July 16, 2001, changed the membership of said Board to nine (9) members; and, <br />WHEREAS, thereafter, the City Council, by adoption of Resolution No. 2002-070, on <br />April 8, 2002, changed the name of the Main Street Project Advisory Board to the Main Street <br />Advisory Board and retained the membership of said Board at eleven (11) members for terms of <br />three years each; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council did thereafter adopt Resolution No. 2004-054 on March 8, <br />2004, to help assure consistency on the Board by establishing staggered three (3) year terms for <br />a11 eleven (11) board members; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council now finds and determines that said Board should consist of <br />seven (7) voting members and four (4) alternate members in order to effectively conduct business; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate the membership of said Board be revised to consist <br />of seven (7) voting members and four (4) alternate members, to serve staggered three (3) year <br />terms, and that the current members of said Board should be reappointed and allocated to the <br />aforesaid voting and alternate member designations; NOW THEREFORE, <br />
