Regular Meeting City Council
June 14, 2004
Page 16
Resolution No. 2004-099, accepting the appraised value on two temporary
construction easements for the Texas Department of Transportation-funded
project to widen Lamar Avenue between 20th Street N.E. and North Collegiate
Drive and acknowledge receipt of the real estate appraisal reports on said
easements, was presented. Councilman Bell made a motion to approve, which
was seconded by Councilman Poston. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays.
Resolution No. 2004-100, approving and authorizing the execution of a Utility
Joint Use Acknowledgment Non-Reimbursable Utility Adj ustment between the
City of Paris and the Texas Department of Transportation in conjunction with
the Texas Department of Transportation-funded proj ect to widen Lamar
Avenue between 20th N.E. and North Collegiate Drive, was presented. A
motion was made by Councilman Guest, seconded by Councilman Poston.
Councilman Bell noted that the non-reimbursable wording in this says we will
shoulder that cost.
City Engineer Shawn Napier said the City of Paris has already paid that cost
which is about $17,000.00 to cover the 10-15% of the overall costs.
Councilman Bell felt like this was after the fact, but City Attorney Schenk said
that this was to insure that if they did have to move them at a later date, the
City would shoulder the cost. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays.
Resolution No. 2004-101, amending Resolution No. 2004-026 which approved
and authorized a grant application to the Office of the Governor, Criminal
Justice Division, for a Red River Valley Drug Task Force Grant, was presented.
Councilwoman Fisher made a motion for approval, which was seconded by
Councilman Bell. Councilman Wilson as if the amount of the grant,
$1,000,000.00 was just for Paris, or for the whole area. City Attorney Schenk
said that the grant was for the area, but since City of Paris was the lead
organization, it had to say that all of the $311,434.00 will be provided.
Councilman Wilson wanted to know how much of the match was coming from
Paris. City Attorney Schenk said it was a little over $24,000.00. Police Chief
Karl Louis said this was calculated on a percentage basis shared with all of the
eleven (11) agencies involved. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays.
