Councilman Wilson seconded the <br />motion which carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Fendley adj ourned the meeting briefly so that Waters Consulting Group <br />could set up for a power point presentation at 6:15 p.m. <br />The meeting reconvened at 6:18 p.m. and Chris Hartung with Waters <br />Consulting made the presentation. Mr. Hartung said that Waters Consulting <br />Group not does executive searches and comprehensive wage and salary studies, <br />but the also develop alternative compensation programs, help with innovative <br />performance management systems, conduct training and development <br />seminars, and aid in general human resource issues and compliance. <br />His presentation included a brief review of the 2000/2001 Study conducted by <br />them for the City of Paris and possible options for updating the current pay <br />structure. The Evaluation examined both exempt and non-empt employees. For <br />exempt, there were twenty-six (26) different jobs evaluated with 11 grade <br />levels developed. For non-exempt, there were sixty-three (63) different jobs <br />with 12 grade levels developed. He indicated this did not include police and <br />fire, which are sworn public safety positions with ranks. <br />Mr. Hartung said they collected data from twenty-two (22) different cities in <br />North Central Texas and the Tyler/Longview area. Waters made <br />recommendations based on comparison of this data, the Texas Municipal <br />League Annual Salary Survey, and the job evaluations which would impact the <br />2001 budget by a little over $425,000. The City of Paris did not implement <br />these recommendations in 2001. <br />Mr. Hartung stated that Waters was recommending one of two updating <br />options for 2004. Option 1 included taking the existing salary structure, gather <br />current information from the Texas Municipal League Salary Survey, and make <br />recommendations for an across the board adjustmentto the city's current salary <br />
