A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, RESCINDING ITS PRIOR ACTION AND REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 2002-157, PASSED OCTOBER 10, 2002, WHICH APPROVED AND RATIFIED THE EXECUTION OF AN APPLICATION FOR A TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT NATIONAL RECREATION TRAILS GRANT AND AUTHORIZED THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT; AUTHORIZING THE NOTIFICATION OF THE TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT AS TO THE CITY' S INTENTION NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT PROJECT DESIGNATED THE LAKE CROOK TRAILS PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR RESCISSION AND RETURN OF SAID GRANT; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, previously ratified a grant application and authorized the acceptance of the grant for that project designated the Lake Crook Trails Project, said project to have a total cost of $102,050.00, with $81,640.00 to be provided by said grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department through the National Recreational Trails Grants Program, and $20,410.00 to be provided by the City of Paris in the form of matching funds; and, WHEREAS, the aforesaid project has not begun and no grant funds have been expended; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris finds and determines that in consideration of current budgetary restraints for fiscal year 2004-2005, the expenditure of the City's matching grant funds for the aforesaid project would not be in the best interest of the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, as a consequence, the City Council desires to take appropriate action to rescind acceptance of the aforesaid grant and repeal the resolution in support thereof, and advise the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department accordingly; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COLTNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved.
