DRAFT <br />F:ALICE\RFSWORK\CURRENT\ New Grade & Step Pay Plan-New Hires Res REVISED <br />October 6, 2004 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A REVISED NEW <br />GRADE AND STEP PAY PLAN FOR ALL NEW CITY EMPLOYEES AND <br />EMPLOYEE PROMOTIONS TO HIGHER GRADE, OTHER THAN <br />CERTIFIED NON-DIRECTOR EMPLOYEES OF THE POLICE, FIRE, AND <br />EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES DEPARTMENTS; REPEALING <br />PRIOR RESOLUTION NO. 2004-161, ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 13, 2004; <br />MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE <br />SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, has deemed it appropriate <br />to implement a new grade and step plan for implementation in fiscal year 2004-2005 for newly <br />hired employees and for employee promotions to higher grade, save and except for certified non- <br />director employees of the Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Departments; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has previously approved said new pay plan by the adoption <br />of Resolution No. 2004-161, adopted September 13, 2004; and, <br />WHEREAS, the aforesaid new grade and step plan contained errors in the summary of <br />grades for four (4) positions, including City Clerk, Library Director, Dispatcher, and Distribution <br />Superintendent, and the City Council desires to adopt a revised new grade and step plan to correct <br />said errors; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that it is in the best interest of the City <br />to adopt and implement said revised new grade and step pay plan for fiscal year 2004-2005; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COLTNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br />Section 2. That a revised new grade and step pay plan for all newly hired employees or <br />employees who promote from one grade to a higher grade after the effective date of this resolution <br />for a11 City departments, other than certified, non-director employees of the Police, Fire, and <br />Emergency Medical Services Departments, as the aforesaid grade and step pay plan is set out in <br />Exhibit A attached hereto and for all purposes incorporated herein, shall be and is hereby <br />approved and adopted. <br />
