<br />MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />CITY HALL WEST ANNEX <br />CONFERENCE ROOM <br />150 1ST STREET S.E. <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />MONDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2004 <br />12:00 0'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Historic Preservation Commission Meeting was called to order by Acting <br />Chairman Brian Wear at 12:00 P.M. <br />A.The following members were present: <br />Paul Denney <br />Sue Lancaster <br />Claudia Hunt <br />Jerry Raper <br />Alternate:Brian Wear <br />B.The following members were absent: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Barbara Wilson, Vice-Chairman <br />Ann Rodgers, Secretary <br />Alternate:Becki Norment <br />C.Also present was Lisa Wright, Historic Preservation Officer. <br />2. <br />Discussion of and possible action on approving the following Certificates of <br />Appropriateness: <br />A. - Randy and Beverly Pendleton <br />Beverly Pendleton - 24 West Plaza <br />presented a drawing of the front of the building along with proposed 4' <br />lettering for their sign which will read “Antiques.” Claudia Hunt stated <br />that she did think the lettering size was to scale with the building and <br />that the font was not appropriate. She also expressed concern that the <br />sign did not give the name of the business. Mr. Pendleton stated he <br />had found old photographs of the building, and the proposed colors <br />and letter sizes are similar to what was there. Mr. Denney stated he <br />would have no problem with the lettering if it were reduced in size by <br />about a third. A reduced copy was made and reviewed. Motion to <br />approve the color scheme and lettering with the condition that the <br />lettering be no larger than 3'6" tall, with the same proportions as <br />submitted, was made by Paul Denney, seconded by Jerry Raper.
