The T~EQ uses 20.5 gpcd as the most reliable figure to represent the "most likely"
conservatiqn scenario. This figure is based upon the estimate that by 2050, 900/0 of pre-
1990 hom~s, and all new homes will have been equipped with water conserving fixtures.
I
I

The ~gure 21.7 gpcd is used as the "advanced" conservation scenario and is an
estimate o~ the average savings that would result from homes equipped exclusively with
water-consþrving plumbing fixtures. This figure is considered "advanced" because in a
typical cit1, 100% of homes would not be exclusively equipped with water-conserving
fixtures. ~esults ofTCEQ data yields the following estimations:

"Most Lik, ly" Savings by 2050 = 20.5 gpcd
"Advance4" Savings by 2050 = 21.7 gpcd
I
I

Technical Potential Savin

cd

i
,
I
I
I

I

III. ReduJing Seasonal Water Use:
I
I
The exas Water Development Board (TWDB) has calculated seasonal use as a
percentag of average annual per capita use for East Texas (20%), West Texas (25%) and
a statewid average of 22.5%. Seasonal use is calculated by multiplying the average
annual gp d for each water system by the appropriate percentage. The technical potential
for reducti n uses 7% for the "most likely" scenario and 20% for the "advanced"
scenario. elow is the resulting calculation:

Annual av rage per capita use for Paris water system = 188.7 gpcd
I
Geographilcallocation = East Texas

Seasonal se = (188.7 X 20%) = 37.74 gpcd

Potential r duction in seasonal use (Most Likely scenario) = (37.74 X 7%) = 2.64 gpcd

Potential r duction in seasonal use (Advanced scenario) = (37.74 X 20%) = 7.55 gpcd

Technica Potential Savin

cd

I
I
I
IV. Redu~ing Water Use through Public Education Programs:

The technical potential for water conservation through public education programs is
estimated to be from 2% of the average annual per capita use (most likely) to 5%

7
