<br />has been abated effective July 18,2005 for the entire property. The new manager <br />would not do a walk thru with our inspector - he sent the contractor. (Pictures <br />were passed around to the commissioners.) Denny Head has talked to HUD <br />regarding not renewing the contract for the Mod Rehab. There is 1 year and 9 <br />months left on the current contract. <br /> <br />3. Lee Taylor - Social Service Coordinator gave a report on Community Service: <br /> <br />Community Service Project started October 1, 2003 per Legislation and <br />HUD Policy. Out of 45 residents required to do Community Service, 38 <br />are headed for eviction. <br />9 residents owe 50 hours or less <br />14 residents owe 51-100 hours <br />12 residents owe 101-150 hours <br />3 residents owe over 151 hours <br />The member owing community service or the whole family can be <br />evicted. <br /> <br />At the April Resident Meeting the residents addressed 2 main <br />concerns/problems with community service: <br />1. Transportation <br />2. Daycare for Children <br /> <br />Re: #1. Transportation was addressed by Mr. Taylor noting <br />to the residents that there are 5-10 agencies within walking <br />distance of all Public Housing Properties <br />Re: #2 Daycare of Children (including snacks, lunch, and <br />activities) was set up at the Booker T Washington Community <br />Center with transportation available and no resident showed up to <br />take advantage of the program <br /> <br />Projects have begun at George Wright and Booker T Washington Homes <br />for residents to do their community service at the PH Sites starting July <br />18, 2005. <br /> <br />At the end of 2nd year - per HUD - the PHA' s are not supposed to give <br />any leeway. Thirty-eight families are looking at possible eviction. <br /> <br />Mr. Mike Folmar suggested GED programs and EVENS TART. Mr. <br />Taylor stated that those programs were already encouraged to the <br />residents; however, no one will respond. The PHA will look bad no <br />matter what comes of this. <br /> <br />Mr. Folmar suggested writing a letter to the Mayor to forewarn the <br />community of the non compliance and the possible repercussions. <br />Possibly get the Mayor to involve Higher Level Politicians. <br /> <br />Mr. Taylor also announced that the Annual Friends of Public Housing Banquet- <br />Scholarship Fundraiser will be held on September 22, 2005 in honor of Carrie <br />2 <br /> <br />~ <br />, <br /> <br />I <br />
